The foundation of my RPG computer game is in place.
It has several main points that make it something new:
1. Characters are all built for combat. There's not a healer/tank/DPS dynamic. There are 12 classes, 6 members in your party, build the party out of any set of classes (although all 1 class is going to struggle).
2. Everybody has magic and there is no spell points. The magic system is living and breathing with each spell cast by your party or your enemies. Each character has a set of spells, magic-focused classes have more. Each time you cast a spell, it's gone and is replaced by something new. You can't spam fireball all the time until your juice runs out.
3. Armor Class is what you start combat with. As different classes employee different skills and actions, this value will go up and down during the battle.
4. Hit Points keep the character alive. Healing spells recover HP, but injuries will continue to impact the character until you get someplace where you can get some solid rest.
5. Built to be broken. Single action repetition is not going to take down bosses. Figure out combinations across characters that lead to big results. explore melee, ranged, or spell attacks, combined with skills and magic items to gain battle-winning strikes.
